Deer Spotted Far Out at Sea Shocks Norwegian Fishermen
Norwegian fishermen discovered a deer swimming far out at sea in an extremely rare sighting. The experienced fishermen had never seen anything like it during their 60 years of lobster fishing. They reported the exhausted animal to authorities but held little hope for its survival.

Two Norwegian lobster fishermen made an unusual discovery Tuesday morning. They spotted a deer swimming far from shore near open waters.
Fisherman Aanensen has worked in lobster fishing for 60 years. He said he had never seen anything like this before.
At first we thought it was a human, Aanensen explained. When we got closer, we realized it was a deer.
The exhausted deer stood on a small island for at least ten minutes. Then it lay down to rest.
Aanensen has occasionally seen moose during his decades at sea. This was his first deer sighting in open waters.
It's very unusual, he stated. A deer has no business being this far out. Just beyond this point is completely open ocean.
The fishermen contacted wildlife authorities and police. They received little response according to their accounts.
They also called the landowner. He told them he lacked permission to cull deer.
We hope it makes it back to land, Aanensen said. But I'm not too confident. It's a very long swim back.
Norwegian coastal waters rarely see deer this far from shore. Wildlife experts were unavailable for immediate comment.
The incident highlights how animals sometimes wander into unexpected territory. This creates challenges for both the animals and people who encounter them.
