Police Receive 67 Reports of Election Poster Vandalism and Theft

Danish police have registered 67 complaints about stolen or vandalized election posters across the country. The posters have been displayed for less than one week.

National police data shows 54 complaints involve vandalism, including one case of aggravated vandalism and another with aggravating circumstances. Authorities recorded 11 additional theft reports.

Eastern Jutland leads with 12 reported incidents. Mid and West Jutland and Copenhagen's Vestegn area follow with 11 cases each. Bornholm remains the only region without any reports.

Police arrested a man in his 40s on Tuesday for removing 300 posters in Albertslund. Officers recovered the posters from his home and returned them to city hall.

In a separate case, South Zealand and Lolland-Falster Police charged a local man with removing posters from a crossroads in Korsør.

National police announced enhanced efforts against harassment and threats ahead of November's local elections. They now track all reports of unlawful behavior related to public debate participation.

The monitoring includes damage to election posters. Police Online Patrol units will monitor digital forums to prevent criminal harassment and threatening behavior.

These incidents highlight ongoing challenges in maintaining civil political discourse during election periods. The concentrated vandalism in specific regions suggests targeted actions rather than random mischief.
