Drivers should expect traffic delays on the E18 highway between Høvik and Lysaker in Bærum this weekend. The Norwegian Public Roads Administration urges motorists to leave their cars at home if possible.

Lane restrictions will be in place during daytime hours on Saturday. Road officials repeated their call for drivers to choose alternative routes.

Project manager Kjetil Fløtre confirmed the planned restrictions in a statement. He leads the E18 Fornebu intersection to Strand subproject.

Similar restrictions occurred last weekend. Fløtre noted that many drivers followed the advice to avoid the area then.

The work involves installing new median barriers, resurfacing roads, and relocating sections of the E18 at Fornebu intersection. These improvements are part of ongoing highway upgrades in the busy Oslo metropolitan area.

Bærum sits just west of Oslo and hosts many commuters traveling to the capital daily. The E18 serves as a critical transportation artery connecting Oslo to surrounding municipalities.

Weekend roadworks often create substantial backups on Norway's highways. The consistent pattern of advising drivers to avoid construction zones shows authorities recognize the significant disruption these projects cause.
