Three pigs escaped from their scheduled slaughter on Thursday. The animals were later shot near Lyngdal town center in southern Norway.
The owner reported the escaped pigs to local police. Officers confirmed the animals were captured and killed in woodland near the bus station at Lyngbygget.
No police case will be filed regarding the incident. Operations manager Eyvind Formo from Agder police district confirmed this decision.
Livestock escapes occasionally occur in Norwegian farming communities. These situations often end with authorities permitting lethal measures when animals pose potential public safety risks.
Norwegian farming practices typically follow strict welfare standards. Yet escape incidents sometimes force difficult decisions between animal welfare and public safety concerns.
