Lamposaari ferry will begin operating on a fixed schedule starting November 1st. The vessel will cross the 400-meter route every 15-20 minutes between 6:00 and 22:00 daily. However, the ferry won't depart if no passengers are waiting at either shore during scheduled departure times.
During night hours from 22:10 to 5:50, the ferry will operate on demand only. This scheduled service trial will continue until December 31, 2026.
The new timetable includes four daily breaks for crew members. Service pauses occur at 09:25-09:45, 11:10-11:30, 15:50-16:10 and 18:50-19:10. Previously, the Lamposaari ferry operated without fixed schedules, running only when needed.
This change represents Finland's ongoing effort to modernize its extensive ferry network. The shift to scheduled service should provide more predictable transportation for residents and visitors to the island community.
What does this mean for regular commuters? The fixed schedule offers reliability but reduces flexibility for spontaneous travel outside peak hours.
