The company expects to reduce its carbon footprint by over 60 percent through this comprehensive factory upgrade. This represents one of the most substantial emissions reductions ever achieved in concrete manufacturing through a single technology implementation.

Factory director Satu Lipsanen confirmed the transformation in an official announcement. She stated this innovation will enable the company to offer low-carbon concrete elements broadly beginning next year. The move positions Finland at the forefront of sustainable construction materials development.

Construction work is currently underway at the Naarajärvi facility. The project involves integrating Carbonaide's systems throughout Lipa-Betoni's entire production line. Work phases include module manufacturing, tank deliveries, and system installations. Trial operations will commence early next year, followed by full-scale production.

Elematic Oyj, a technology supplier to the precast concrete industry, developed special sealing for the factory's drying chamber doors. This engineering solution enables safe carbon dioxide usage within the production process.

Concrete production accounts for approximately 8% of global CO2 emissions, making this development particularly significant for climate goals. The Nordic region has been aggressively pursuing construction industry decarbonization, with Sweden and Norway also investing heavily in green building technologies.

Finland's concrete industry transformation reflects broader European Union climate policies pushing manufacturers toward carbon neutrality. The EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism will soon impose costs on high-carbon imports, creating competitive advantages for early adopters of low-carbon production methods.
