One Critical Home Area Finns Forget to Inspect

A new survey reveals one-third of Finnish homeowners have never had their roofs professionally inspected, despite roofs requiring maintenance every 20-50 years. Most homeowners monitor roofs themselves but miss critical internal inspections where problems first appear. Roof repairs are often delayed until issues become visible and more expensive.

One Critical Home Area Finns Forget to Inspect

Finnish homeowners often neglect roof maintenance according to a new survey. Most respondents believe their roof remains in good condition. Yet one-third have never had their roof professionally inspected or maintained.

Roof repairs frequently get postponed until problems emerge. Costs can multiply when issues become visible. Many homeowners delay roof renovations because they don't see the immediate need.

"People easily forget that the roof provides the main protection for the entire house," said the CEO of the survey organization in a statement.

Over 80% of homeowners monitor their roof condition independently. Most self-inspections focus on external elements like gutters and rainwater systems. They also check roof safety products.

"It's great that most detached house owners follow their roof's condition," the CEO noted. "But less than half inspect the space between the ceiling and roof, where problems often first appear."

Roof renovations should occur every 20-50 years depending on materials. Nearly 70% of renovated roofs were replaced within the last decade. Most renovations happen due to roof age or preventive maintenance.

This pattern suggests many Finnish homeowners prioritize visible home improvements over essential structural maintenance, potentially risking costly future repairs.
