Kauhava's Kirkonkylä Pharmacy now offers nurse consultations alongside traditional pharmacy services. The Finnish pharmacy added vaccinations, lab tests, and ear irrigations to its healthcare offerings. Patients can access these services without doctor's referrals for faster care.

Pharmacist Susanna Kukkola explained the health station aims to complement public healthcare. "Our goal is to reduce treatment queues and provide easy access to nurse appointments," she said in a statement. The new services operate from a dedicated room built within the S-Market store location.

Pop-up health days introduced the expanded services to customers. Additional introduction days will occur on November 5 and December 3. Regular health station operations will begin in early 2026.

This expansion reflects Finland's growing trend of integrating basic healthcare services into community pharmacies. The approach addresses rural healthcare access challenges while reducing pressure on public clinics.
