Northern Europe’s largest water park is finally moving from plan to reality. The Sigtuna municipal council approved the building permit in September for the water park and its accompanying hotel. Now, construction is set to begin soon, with officials aiming to break ground before the year ends.
Aram Mojarrad, deputy CEO of Vi Invest and the project lead, shared updates on the municipality’s website. “We’re working full speed on preparations for construction,” he said. “If everything goes as planned, we intend to take the first spadeful this year. After that, we expect construction to last about 30 months.”
The project has drawn criticism from residents of Rosersberg, a local community within Sigtuna. They worry the large-scale development will disrupt their quiet neighborhood. Concerns include increased car traffic and visitors walking through residential streets after arriving by commuter train. Locals fear this could disturb the peaceful atmosphere they value.
In response, Sigtuna Municipality told local outlet Mitt i Sigtuna that signs will be placed at the commuter train station. These signs will guide visitors along the main Rosersbergsvägen road, helping them avoid smaller side streets and residential areas.
