A 40-year-old home care worker faces charges for five serious thefts in Partille municipality. She allegedly stole jewelry and valuables worth approximately 450,000 kronor ($42,000) from elderly clients receiving home care services.

The woman admitted taking jewelry but disputes the total value. A 20-year-old woman also faces charges for receiving stolen property.

Prosecutor Maria Thorell called the crimes particularly ruthless in a statement. She said the victims were vulnerable and stolen from in their own homes where they should feel safe.

Home care services in Sweden provide assistance to elderly and disabled people living at home. Workers help with daily tasks like cleaning, cooking, and personal care.

This case highlights the trust placed in caregivers who enter private homes. The thefts occurred while the worker was supposed to be providing essential services to vulnerable residents.

Swedish home care theft cases often involve substantial sums because workers access entire homes. Elderly victims may not immediately notice missing items or report suspicions.

The case will proceed through the Swedish court system. Both women could face prison sentences if convicted of the serious theft and handling stolen property charges.
