Julia Haraldsen, an 18-year-old from Skien, described dangerous driving conditions as her car—carrying four girls returning home from a kristenruss gathering near Hamar—struggled with freezing rain coating the windshield. Visibility dropped sharply, and the group had to stop repeatedly to scrape ice off the glass. According to Haraldsen, traffic slowed to a crawl, with vehicles lining the motorway as drivers dealt with the same issue. By the time VG spoke with the group, they had reached Eidsvoll, though some passengers were headed all the way to Kristiansand. Despite the visible delays, Norway’s Road Traffic Central reported no official alerts about ice-related congestion on the route. Meanwhile, separate incidents unfolded further south on the E18 near Undrumsdalskrysset in Horten, where two crashes occurred. Operations leader Vegar Dale Møane confirmed one was a rear-end collision triggered by an initial accident. Fifteen people across five vehicles were involved. A white Tesla with front-end damage left the scene, and police are urging its driver to come forward. One woman was taken to the emergency room, three others received on-site medical checks but sustained only minor injuries. Møane noted the northbound E18 remained closed during cleanup, though the main lane appeared clear of snow at the time.
