An internal evaluation reveals Norway's largest trade union committed multiple errors during a controversial administration takeover. The report identifies several questionable practices in the handling of a department led by Merethe Solberg.

Solberg later disclosed a secret sexual relationship with union leader Jørn Eggum that lasted nearly four years. The report concludes Eggum was biased in his management of her department, which he has acknowledged.

Investigators found the case processing was inadequate with too many people involved and marked by haste. Communication between employees, department leadership and the board was insufficient, weakening transparency principles and the right to respond.

Principles of respect, clarity and fair treatment were largely disregarded according to the findings. Documentation requirements weren't followed, with parts of the process lacking any records.

Despite these failures, the report maintains placing the department under administration was the correct decision. The union describes this as their final report on the matter.

Eggum resigned as union leader following the revelations and withdrew his candidacy for Norway's national labor organization leadership. Solberg has since sued the union to regain her position, with the court case scheduled to begin in Oslo District Court on November 25.

This case exposes concerning internal practices within one of Norway's most influential labor organizations. The combination of personal relationships and procedural failures raises questions about accountability in major Norwegian institutions.
