The city of Kouvola will host Finland's national Urban Forum next year. Kouvola City Council and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment are organizing the event.
City Manager Marita Toikka described the forum's purpose in a city announcement. She said the event will gather experts, decision-makers, researchers and stakeholders to discuss future cities.
The discussions will focus on how to build vibrant and sustainable urban environments through collaboration.
"Kouvola is proud to provide the setting for this platform of influence, networking and experience exchange," Toikka said. "We get to create a top-tier program while showcasing our diverse event city capabilities."
The announcement came during this year's Urban Forum in Lappeenranta. That October event spanned two days at Lappeenranta City Hall.
Participants discussed safe and pleasant cities and heard from Minister of Local and Regional Government Anna-Kaisa Ikonen.
This hosting opportunity represents a significant recognition for Kouvola, a city actively repositioning itself as an events destination amid broader regional economic transitions.
What makes cities livable and sustainable in the long term? The Urban Forum aims to explore practical answers through expert discussions and shared experiences.
