Kymen Tuki Begins Change Negotiations Affecting 13 Jobs

Kymen Tuki has announced it will begin change negotiations next Tuesday for internal logistics operations at Kymenlaakso Central Hospital. The negotiations affect 55 employees working in hospital logistics services. Preliminary estimates indicate a need to reduce staff by 13 workers.

Hospital logistics operations include material and patient transport, care logistics filling services, mailing and delivery services, mortuary services, lobby attendants, and equipment maintenance delivery services. The company cites production, economic reasons, and operational reorganization as the basis for negotiations.

These negotiations will last at least three weeks, which represents the statutory minimum period for such proceedings. The logistics operations transferred to Kymen Tuki through business transfer from Kymsote at the beginning of 2023, excluding material transport and filling services.

Kymen Tuki is part of the Kymenlaakso welfare district consortium and provides support services across the region. The company handles support services for social and healthcare as well as rescue departments, including construction, cleaning services, property maintenance, care equipment center, medical technology, transport, and facility services.

Across the entire Kymenlaakso welfare district, cooperation negotiations are currently underway that began in early October. This suggests broader organizational changes affecting the region's public services.

Change negotiations often precede workforce reductions in Finland's public sector as organizations seek cost savings. The timing coincides with ongoing regional cooperation talks, indicating systematic restructuring rather than isolated cuts.
