Lappeenranta city officials are altering public transportation arrangements on Valtakatu street starting Tuesday. The changes come due to ongoing renovation work at the city's indoor sports hall.

New traffic lanes will open on the park side of Valtakatu while opposite lanes close completely. This marks the second adjustment to bus stop locations in recent months.

Construction temporarily reduced the four-lane road section to two lanes earlier this year. Now traffic patterns shift again to accommodate the sports facility upgrades.

A new temporary bus stop will be built for passengers arriving from Lauritsala direction. It will sit on the central island where the park-side stop currently serves downtown-bound travelers.

The area will receive new traffic lights and a relocated crosswalk. Crews will extend the bus stop while updating drainage systems, curb stones, and asphalt surfaces.

Which bus lines face disruptions? Routes 2, 5, 12, 113, 200, 603, 604, 620, 1011 and 1012 all experience changes.

Temporary traffic arrangements will continue until approximately mid-November. Normal traffic patterns should resume after that date.

These repeated adjustments create confusion for daily commuters. The city appears prioritizing construction timelines over passenger convenience during these infrastructure improvements.
