A massive fire broke out in the Norwegian coastal town of Drøbak, forcing 19 people to evacuate their homes and businesses. One person required hospital treatment for injuries sustained during the incident.
The fire continued burning in the commercial building as of 3:08 PM local time. The structure houses Drøbak Vaskeri, a local laundry service business in the town located approximately 35 kilometers south of Oslo.
Emergency officials confirmed there is no immediate risk of the fire spreading to neighboring properties. Authorities have advised nearby residents to keep their windows closed as a precautionary measure against smoke inhalation.
The rapid evacuation prevented more serious injuries, but the complete destruction of a local business will have economic consequences for the small coastal community. Fire crews remain on scene working to fully extinguish the blaze.
