A neo-Nazi music festival is scheduled for November in Romerike, a region near Norway's capital Oslo. The event will feature multiple metal bands with known neo-Nazi sympathies according to extremism researchers.
The two-day festival calls itself 'Alien Terminator Fest' and promotes itself as a 'great excuse to visit Norway' on promotional materials. Both local police and Norway's domestic intelligence service PST confirm they are aware of the planned gathering.
'PST is routinely informed about this event. We are in dialogue with local police and have no further comments,' said PST senior advisor Eirik Veum in a statement to media.
Journalists have been unable to reach the festival organizers for comment.
This marks the second consecutive year that neo-Nazi events have been attempted in the Romerike area. Last year's planned gathering was stopped when the venue owner canceled the booking and ejected approximately 100 attendees. A German Nazi rapper was also prevented from traveling to Norway when stopped at Berlin airport.
Norwegian authorities face ongoing challenges monitoring extremist groups that attempt to organize under the guise of music events. The repeated attempts to hold such events in the same region suggest organized networks remain active despite previous interventions.
