“We are recalling the bread immediately and asking customers who have purchased it to refrain from eating it and return it to the store,” says Harald Kristiansen, communications director for Coop Norge. This urgent warning follows the discovery that Coop Havregull Skåret bread may contain pieces of metal, prompting an immediate recall from 64 stores across Vestlandet. The product, supplied by Goman Vest, has been discarded in stores, and customers can get a refund upon return. This applies to bread with the best before date 15.02.2026 and item number 7128653.

Immediate Consumer Action Required

Coop Norge has activated a standard recall protocol, directly notifying the affected stores and issuing public statements. The recall is limited to the specified batch, but the company advises all consumers to check their purchases. Kristiansen emphasized that safety is the top priority, and the recall was initiated as soon as the potential hazard was identified. While no injuries have been reported, the risk of metal ingestion drove the swift action. Customers are urged to return the product to any Coop store for a full refund, regardless of receipt, as part of the company's commitment to consumer protection.

Broader Context of Safety Incidents in Norway

This recall coincides with several other safety-related incidents across Norway, highlighting a day of varied emergency responses. In Askøy, a grass fire on Askvegen was reported to the 110 emergency center at 14:04. Fire services from Askøy and Laksevåg responded, with individuals on site attempting to suppress the flames initially. The fire was quickly brought under control, with subsequent cooling and monitoring to prevent reignition. Vaktleder Jostein Steinsland-Hauge noted that while there was some wind, there was no immediate danger of spread to buildings, and the situation was resolved efficiently.

In a separate tragic event, a 23-year-old man, Steffen Sørfonn Tysnes, died in a motorcycle accident on Humlevikvegen on Tysnes. Emergency services were alerted at 15:47 on Sunday afternoon, with ambulance and medical personnel arriving promptly to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation. However, the man was declared dead after a short time. Police reported no witnesses to the accident, and operations manager Ole Ronny Olsen stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause. This incident underscores the persistent risks on Norwegian roads, despite advanced safety measures.

Another emergency involved a chimney fire in an detached house in Kysnes, Jondal, Ullensvang, reported at 09:29. Two residents were evacuated safely as the fire spread from the chimney to the roof structure. Fire services managed to extinguish the open flames by 10:01, focusing on opening up the structure to ensure no residual heat remained. Steinsland-Hauge described the situation as initially unclear but was resolved without injury, demonstrating the effectiveness of Norway's emergency response systems.

Additionally, on Monday evening, two men in their 30s and 40s were arrested in Vestland on suspicion of rape or complicity in rape. Police actions continue in this case, reflecting broader societal concerns about crime and justice in the region.
