Norwegian police arrested two teenage boys last Wednesday in the Haugaland region. Both face charges of conspiracy to endanger public safety. They were placed in custody for one week following their arrest.

Prosecutors now request an additional two weeks of detention. They cite concerns about evidence tampering during the ongoing investigation.

Police Inspector Mads Lerum explained the situation in an official statement. He said investigators remain in early stages of their work. Authorities continue reviewing electronic evidence seized during the investigation.

Lerum noted they cannot share specific case details currently. He declined to reveal what actions the suspects allegedly planned or where they might occur.

Defense lawyer Helene Haugland represents one of the detained 17-year-olds. She expressed strong objections to the detention conditions.

I am quite upset they want to hold a minor in a regular prison, Haugland stated. The main rule in Norway is that children under 18 should not go to prison unless absolutely necessary.

Haugland plans to request her client's release during today's court hearing. She confirmed her client denies any criminal guilt.

Police previously indicated they're investigating possible connections to criminal networks. Lerum confirmed this line of inquiry continues but offered no additional details.

Authorities haven't ruled out further arrests in the case. Prosecutors will also request mail and visit restrictions for the suspects. They want the detention hearings conducted behind closed doors.

The case highlights Norway's strict approach to youth detention, where imprisoning minors remains exceptional rather than routine. The extended custody request suggests police consider this a serious potential threat requiring thorough investigation.
