All but one member of Sweden's current government plan to run in the upcoming Riksdag election, according to a report by Altinget. Anna Tenje, the Minister for social Security and the Elderly from the Moderate Party, is the sole cabinet minister not seeking a seat in the Swedish Parliament this fall. Every other minister has confirmed their candidacy. Currently, eleven government ministers do not hold seats in the Riksdag. This group includes Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer, Minister for International Development Cooperation Benjamin Dousa, and Simona Mohamsson, leader of the Liberal Party. Their re-entry into national politics depends on electoral success. If the Tidö coalition loses the election, several ministers face an uncertain political future. Neither Andreas Carlson, Minister for Housing, nor Erik Slottner, Minister for Civil Affairs, appear in electable positions on the Christian Democrats’ Stockholm mandate list, as shown in Altinget’s review. Their return to the Riksdag isn’t guaranteed. The Swedish government operates from Rosenbad, adjacent to the Riksdag building in central Stockholm. With autumn elections approaching, internal party rankings will determine who returns to shape government policy Sweden-wide.
