Neighboring apartments can become infestation sources through shared ventilation systems and plumbing networks. He confirms that paper bug eradication typically occurs when properties change ownership or tenancy. The timing represents the main consideration rather than whether treatment becomes necessary. For recent infestations, store-bought aerosol poisons specifically targeting paper bugs might provide sufficient control.

Rauthovi emphasizes thorough cleaning before treatment, noting that while paper bugs don't necessarily indicate poor hygiene, eliminating food sources like breadcrumbs and hair in drains improves control effectiveness. Insecticides work most efficiently when applied to clean surfaces.
The expert dispels common misconceptions about infestation patterns. Paper bugs affect both old and new construction equally, with treatment requests coming equally from modern residential areas. International packages present additional concerns, sometimes carrying species not native to Finland.
