Norwegian police are searching for additional video footage from former municipal doctor Arne Bye's medical practice. Investigators believe there are gaps in the timeline of recorded material.

Police attorney Ole Andreas Aftret stated that based on case information, filming likely began earlier than 2016. Authorities suspect they haven't recovered all recorded material from their seizures.

Last Friday, police charged Bye with 33 new sexual assaults involving 16 victims. This comes after the former Frosta municipality doctor was already convicted in June for 70 rapes and 82 counts of abusing his medical position for sexual purposes.

Prosecutors revealed during court proceedings that filming actually started in 2005 at Bye's medical office. The recording continued until June 2022, much longer than previously known.

Bye had originally claimed he began recording after a 2017 complaint case. The discrepancy suggests the doctor's timeline explanation doesn't match the evidence.

Police recently searched two cabins but found nothing. They're now considering other locations where Bye might have stored additional material.

At Bye's home, investigators discovered vacuum-sealed hard drives inside plastic containers. These were wrapped in double garbage bags and stored in boxes.

Five victims from the original trial are included in the new charges. One additional victim will be part of the appeal case at Frostating Court of Appeal.

When asked if others were involved, police confirmed all evidence points solely to Bye. His defense attorney declined to comment on the new charges.

The case reveals troubling gaps in medical oversight that allowed such extensive abuse to continue for years. The systematic nature of the recording suggests calculated behavior rather than isolated incidents.

Bye remains in custody until his appeal hearing begins on November 26. He has appealed his 21-year prison sentence and lifetime ban from practicing medicine.

The appeal court will consider Bye's case regarding 13 of the victimized women, while Bye himself has appealed to the Supreme Court to review all 70 convictions.
