A regular Saturday afternoon at a Rema 1000 supermarket on Lyngbygade in Silkeborg turned violent when a shopkeeper confronted a customer who had taken a package of sausages and placed it in his pocket. The man involved is a 34-year-old resident from the local area. When the shopkeeper approached him outside the store to address the theft, the man responded by striking him multiple times in the face with his fists. The shopkeeper, identified as Bjørn Bajlum, immediately contacted the police while following the suspect. Viggo Rækby, a duty officer with the Mid and West Jutland Police, confirmed that law enforcement arrived shortly afterward and arrested the man. He was formally charged with robbery in connection with the incident. The suspect has since received a court sentence. Rækby did not provide specific details about the ruling or its terms. Following the altercation, Bajlum published a message on the supermarket’s official Facebook page to inform customers and staff about what had occurred. He noted that numerous customers and employees were present during the event. In his post, he reassured the public that everyone involved was unharmed. He wrote, "There were many customers and employees on site, and this post is just to let you know that we’re all okay! We look out for each other and have tools we can use if needed later."
