Snow removal companies across Denmark are working around the clock. Copenhagen has not seen such heavy snow accumulation since 2010. Last week alone, 17 centimeters of snow fell, forcing firms to deploy crews nightly for plowing, salting, and hauling snow away. The volume of snow has been so extreme that standard roadside storage is no longer sufficient. Mikkel Mørch, project manager at JJ Gruppen, said this is the first time in his 15-year career that the company has had to use trucks to remove snow entirely because roadside space ran out. The situation has been especially intense on Zealand, including areas near Engelstrup in southern Zealand. Anlægsgartnerfirmaet Havia, a landscaping company, also reported having to haul snow away—a step not required in previous winters. Project consultant Tommy Bertelsen told Børsen he couldn’t recall a winter as extreme as this one, particularly on Zealand and Funen. Normally, northern Jutland sees the toughest conditions, but this year’s demand has shifted south. To keep up, multiple snow removal firms have brought in extra personnel and machinery to manage the relentless workload. The increased demand has pushed companies beyond their usual capacity, requiring continuous night shifts and additional logistical planning just to maintain basic road access.
