Stockholm Architect's Building Damaged in Vandalism

Over ten glass panels were damaged simultaneously at the KFEM building in Stockholm. The structure was designed by prominent Swedish architect Gert Wingårdh. Glass panels from one facade have been falling directly onto the street below. Problems with the building's glass panels began at least in spring 2024. The situation has worsened in recent weeks. Sanna Fagerlund described a September 19 incident. She said she heard a loud crash while approaching her car. Then glass shards flew through the air. She found the experience immediately frightening. Police are now investigating all the damage as vandalism. Another witness saw a large glass panel fall right before his eyes on October 1. The repeated glass failures raise questions about both safety and building maintenance. This is not the first time modern architectural glass facades have faced durability challenges in Scandinavian climates.
