Hinderstorpsparken, a green corridor stretching between residential buildings, forest patches, and the E18 highway in Rinkeby, is set for a major renovation. The park currently features a zip line, a dance area, a splash pad playground, an outdoor gym, the Kvarnby sports field, and a play structure called Hinken. Schools and preschools use the space daily, and its walking and cycling path serves as one of the few connections between Rinkeby and Järvafältet. The northern section of the park will undergo upgrades as part of Stockholm’s Grönare Stockholm initiative. City officials say the area has suffered wear and tear and faces noise from the nearby motorway. Heavy rainfall also causes runoff through the valley, raising flood risks for adjacent homes and roads. Trafikborgarråd Lars Strömgren of the Green Party confirmed the city’s directional decision to move forward with improvements. “We want to bring more greenery to more places in the city,” Strömgren said. “In this case, the goal is to increase cooling, improve safety, and implement measures to manage heavy downpours.” The project aligns with broader Swedish government efforts to enhance urban resilience and public green spaces under current Stockholm politics.
