Stockholm's Landmark Doctor Building Faces Demolition
Stockholm's landmark medical building at Odenplan will be demolished by year's end, forcing healthcare services to relocate. The primary care center moves to Brahegatan in December, joining other clinics that have already closed or moved. The change reflects ongoing urban development in central Stockholm.

Stockholm's iconic blue-grey medical building will soon be demolished. The landmark at Odenplan has served patients for decades but will be razed to the ground by year's end.
Doctor Ted Gustafsson started working at the Family Group practice in 2019. His first years were unusual because the pandemic hit shortly after. "We couldn't accept patients with infections," he explained. "We first used a party tent and then a small cabin on the street."
The view from the tenth floor is impressive, but Gustafsson has only weeks left to enjoy it. His primary care center will relocate to Östermalm, an affluent central Stockholm district. Many other medical services have already closed or moved elsewhere.
Stockholm's skin clinic, eye clinic, and ear-nose-throat clinic have all shut down. The primary care center and child health center will move to Brahegatan street. Their last day at Odenplan is December 12. They will welcome patients at the new address just three days later.
"It feels good to know where we're moving," Gustafsson said. "We can tell patients they can follow us to the new location."
The demolition reflects Stockholm's ongoing urban transformation. Prime central locations often give way to new developments, displacing established services. Patients will need to adjust to receiving care at different addresses across the city.
