Police arrested a man in central Stockholm's park area recently. Officers suspect he intended to sell hard liquor to underage boys. Authorities confiscated approximately 20 bottles of spirits during the arrest.
The 18-year-old suspect also faces previous allegations. He allegedly sold alcohol to girls who suffered severe alcohol poisoning.
Local police expressed concern about ongoing youth risks. "Unfortunately, teenagers continue taking risks by purchasing bootleg liquor," said community police officer Ola Åkesson in a statement. "This is obviously problematic and worrying. The alcohol sold isn't classified as drinkable. Virtually all bottles we analyze after seizures contain toxic and harmful substances."
In mid-October, severely affected teenagers in the Stockholm region required hospital treatment. They had consumed dangerous bootleg alcohol. Twelve teenagers received medical care during the same weekend. All victims eventually recovered fully.
This case highlights Stockholm's ongoing struggle with illegal alcohol sales to minors. Despite repeated warnings about toxic substances, young people continue risking their health for cheap intoxication.
