Chaotic Halloween Night Brings Underage Drinking and Violence

Halloween celebrations turned chaotic across Sweden with out-of-control house parties and assaults on police. Emergency services responded to numerous incidents involving underage drinking and violence throughout the evening.

In Alby, south of Stockholm, police and ambulances rushed to a house party on Friday night. Teenagers around 15 years old had consumed smuggled alcohol, and six youths required hospital treatment. Authorities have launched a criminal investigation into bodily harm, illegal alcohol sales, and unlawful handling of alcohol.

Police officials described the night as more disorderly than usual. "It has been more chaotic than normal," said Anders Bryngelsson of Stockholm Police in a statement. The department reported numerous cases of public intoxication and assault throughout the metropolitan area.

The incident highlights ongoing challenges with underage drinking during holiday celebrations in Sweden. Despite strict alcohol laws, teenagers continue to access alcohol through unofficial channels, leading to dangerous situations that strain emergency services.
