Sweden's National Intelligence Council convened on Friday to address recent violations of European airspace. The meeting included leaders from the Security Service, National Defence Radio Establishment, and Military Intelligence and Security Service.
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson stated Sweden remains prepared following multiple airspace violations across Europe. Recent incidents include drone sightings at Danish airports and Russian military aircraft entering Estonian airspace.
"We have seen airspace violations in several European countries in recent weeks," Kristersson said in a statement after the meeting. "Swedish authorities work hard and monitor developments in the air, on land, on and below the surface around the clock."
He added reassurance for Swedish citizens: "The Swedish people need not worry, but they should know we are prepared."
The intelligence council coordinates Sweden's response to security threats. This comes as Nordic countries face increased military activity near their borders.
Sweden's statement reflects growing regional concern about airspace security. While officials project confidence, the repeated incidents suggest ongoing tensions in the Baltic region that require constant monitoring.
