Prosecutors have charged a 16-year-old boy with multiple sexual harassment and assault offenses. The crimes occurred between March and June in Helsinki's Haaga district and surrounding areas.
The case will be heard in Helsinki District Court in December. Prosecutors requested closed proceedings and confidential handling of court documents and victim identities.
Police previously stated the suspect used electric scooters to approach victims from behind. The teenager allegedly groped women's buttocks and in some cases maintained physical contact.
Investigators say the boy could not explain his actions during questioning. The lead detective confirmed this in an official police statement.
The accused has largely admitted to the offenses according to prosecutors. Court documents reveal 11 victims are involved in the case.
This pattern of assaults using electric scooters for quick approaches shows concerning premeditation. The high number of victims in such a short period suggests systematic behavior rather than isolated incidents.
