Teens hospitalized after drinking toxic vodka

Six Swedish teenagers were hospitalized after drinking toxic alcohol from a 'vodka car' contacted via Snapchat. Police confirmed the spirits contained isopropanol, a dangerous chemical used for cleaning electronics. The incident highlights growing concerns about underage alcohol access through social media.

Several 15-year-old girls were hospitalized Friday after drinking spirits possibly containing toxic isopropanol. The incident occurred during a party in Vallentuna near Stockholm. Police say the alcohol was purchased from a 'vodka car' contacted through Snapchat. Two girls were unconscious when transported to hospital. Authorities received additional reports overnight of very young people hospitalized after drinking from similar sources. Six teenagers total required medical treatment according to reports. Police testing indicated the alcohol contained isopropanol in several cases. The Swedish Poisons Information Centre warns this substance is particularly dangerous for children. Isopropanol is commonly used for cleaning electronics. Exposure symptoms include intoxication, low blood pressure, vomiting and abdominal pain. Vallentuna Municipal Commissioner Johan Skog called the incident deeply concerning. His thoughts are with the affected teenagers and their families. This case highlights ongoing challenges with underage access to alcohol through social media channels. The 'vodka car' phenomenon represents an alarming evolution in how young people obtain alcohol illegally.
