Telia has fixed a transmission error that disrupted mobile services for customers in Møre og Romsdal county. The outage affected both 4G and 5G coverage in several municipalities.
Daniel Barhom, Telia Norway's information director, confirmed the resolution. He said the problem stemmed from a major transmission failure. Transmission errors occur when systems that transfer energy or signals malfunction.
The company apologized for the inconvenience caused to customers. The disruption particularly impacted eight municipalities in western Norway.
Affected areas included Ørsta, Sula, Ulstein, Herøy, Sande, Vanylven, Sykkylven and Volda. These communities are located along Norway's scenic western coastline, known for its fjords and mountains.
Local authorities had earlier reported challenges with mobile network coverage. The outage highlights how dependent modern communities have become on reliable telecommunications infrastructure.
While Telia acted quickly to resolve the issue, the incident shows how vulnerable digital infrastructure remains to technical failures. Such outages can disrupt emergency communications, business operations and daily life in remote regions.
