A 68-year-old man from East Jutland has died following a car accident in the northern part of Silkeborg near Nørreskov Bakke. The incident occurred in a roundabout and involved two men, both aged 68. Viggo Rækby, duty chief at Midt- and Vestjyllands Police, provided details to TV Midtvest about the crash. According to police, dashcam footage from a witness shows that the deceased man was driving through the roundabout in a normal manner. As he was exiting the roundabout, he was struck by another vehicle driven by the second 68-year-old man. Rækby told Ritzau that the force of the collision caused the deceased man’s car to be thrown back across the roundabout. Initial observations suggest that the other driver may not have stayed in his proper lane. Rækby emphasized that the official vehicle inspection report has not yet been completed and that he has not personally reviewed the dashcam footage. The surviving driver was taken to Regionshospitalet in Viborg and is being treated for non-critical injuries. Authorities are currently investigating whether the surviving driver will face criminal charges, but no conclusions have been reached at this time. Police are asking members of the public in the area to follow all instructions given by officers as the investigation proceeds. Midt- and Vestjyllands Police have stated they cannot provide any final conclusions about the cause of the crash until further evidence is analyzed.
