Two individuals have been remanded in custody in connection with a bribery investigation linked to the Transport Administration in the Stockholm region. The Stockholm District Court has granted the prosecutor's request to detain both persons, who are suspected on probable grounds of serious bribery offenses. One is suspected of gross giving of bribes and the other of gross receiving of bribes. Prosecutor Pontus Bergsten stated that special reasons for detention applied in this case. He explained that there was a risk the suspects could interfere with the investigation if they remained at liberty. One of the two individuals was considered to pose a flight risk, which further supported the decision to order pretrial detention. A company based in the Mälaren region has had its assets seized under a court order amounting to six million Swedish kronor. According to official documents from the Stockholm District Court, five people in total are now suspected in relation to this case. The investigation focuses on alleged acts of corruption involving public officials and private parties connected to the regional transport authority. No additional details about the nature of the alleged bribes or the specific roles of the suspects have been disclosed publicly at this stage. The legal proceedings are ongoing, and all suspects retain the presumption of innocence until proven guilty in a court of law.
