Värmdö Municipality Plans Deer Population Control
Värmdö Municipality launches its first wildlife management plan to address growing deer population issues. Residents report deer eating gardens and causing property damage. The new plan will regulate hunting to reduce wildlife conflicts.

Deer are walking through large rose bushes and jumping onto terraces in Värmdö. They eat flowers from Elisabeth Linné's pots. She likes the animals but says there are too many now. Her neighbor Sonja Lindqvist faces the same problem. Deer have eaten half her schersim bush already.
What problems do deer cause? They enter properties and consume everything in their path. Wild boars damage lawns and farmland. Traffic accidents involving wildlife occur regularly.
Elisabeth Linné lives in Kolvik. She said deer only appeared in her area one or two years ago. They now clear everything residents plant. This causes frustration and sadness.
Värmdö Municipality created its first wildlife management plan. It will regulate hunting on municipal land. The plan aims to reduce wildlife problems in residential areas and near roads.
Local governments often struggle to balance nature conservation with resident concerns. This plan represents a practical approach to managing wildlife conflicts that many communities face.
