A 43-year-old Norwegian woman has appealed her eleven-year prison sentence for involvement in the murder of Heidi Flood. The conviction occurred earlier this month in Skien, a city in southern Norway.
The woman admitted injuring her friend with a knife but maintains another person committed the murder. She claims her former partner actually killed Flood, though he has consistently denied any involvement.
Her defense attorney told reporters the appeal focuses on removing her remaining responsibility. 'She feels relieved the court believed her about not committing the murder directly,' he said. 'But she believes she shouldn't be held responsible for involvement either.'
Prosecutors have closed the case against the man she accused. Norwegian authorities determined insufficient evidence existed to proceed against him.
This appeal highlights the challenges in proving indirect involvement in violent crimes. The court must now decide whether her actions sufficiently contributed to the fatal outcome.
