A woman in her 40s has denied criminal responsibility. Silje Christine Hellesen from Elden Advokatfirma said the suspect was questioned by police on Saturday and maintains that no crime occurred. Hellesen told Norway’s NTB news agency that her client is deeply affected by the incident. She emphasized that the woman is cooperating fully with authorities and provided a detailed statement during Saturday’s interrogation. The defense attorney added that her client does not understand why she has been charged. Police confirmed the interrogation and stated they are still investigating the case broadly. Police prosecutor Unni Byberg Malmin said they have received the preliminary autopsy report for the deceased woman, who was in her 30s, but declined to share details to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation. Authorities are examining multiple hypotheses, including homicide, and are cross-checking the suspect’s account against other evidence. Officials have not yet decided whether to request that the court place the suspect in pre-trial detention. Earlier on Saturday, police prosecutor Fredrik Martin Soma revealed there is a family relationship between the accused and the victim. Emergency services were alerted to the incident just before 8 p.m. on Friday evening.
