A woman accused of murder following the discovery of a lifeless woman inside a Haugesund residence has denied criminal responsibility. According to police attorney Unni Byberg Malmin, the suspect was questioned today and provided an explanation of the incident. She is cooperating with authorities but does not admit guilt in connection with the death.

An autopsy was carried out Saturday on the deceased woman, who was in her thirties. Police confirmed she was found unresponsive Friday evening after officers responded to a disturbance call at a Haugesund address. Emergency responders attempted resuscitation, but she could not be saved. She was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead shortly before 9 p.m. Friday. A woman in her forties was arrested at the scene and formally charged with murder. Authorities confirm there is a family relationship between the suspect and the victim.

Police are still investigating the case broadly and considering multiple hypotheses, with homicide being one of them. Malmin added that investigators are working to verify the suspect’s statement against other evidence collected so far. However, officials declined to share further details about the suspect’s account or the autopsy findings at this stage.
