A 59-year-old woman died after being struck by a vehicle in the Tveita area of eastern Oslo just after 10 a.m. Emergency responders immediately began life-saving first aid at the scene with assistance from both the fire department and ambulance personnel. According to Freddy Kørra-Østby, the on-site incident commander, crews arrived to find someone in urgent need of medical help and started treatment without delay.
The woman, an Oslo resident, was soon confirmed deceased at the scene. Her next of kin have been notified. The driver, a man in his 40s who also lives in Oslo, reported the incident to police himself. Kørra-Østby stated that the man is receiving care from both health services and law enforcement.
Police have charged the driver with negligent homicide. He was taken to the police station earlier on Saturday for a routine blood test, and his driver’s license was confiscated. Authorities conducted a thorough on-site investigation, interviewed witnesses, and seized the vehicle for forensic examination. Operations leader Thomas Pedersen Enger noted in the police log that further inquiry aims to clarify the exact sequence of events but emphasized there is no suspicion of intent or alcohol involvement.
