A 69-year-old man has been remanded in custody for four weeks following the death of a 100-year-old resident at Kærdalen nursing home in Vejen, Denmark. He is charged with violent assault resulting in death. According to South and Southwest Jutland Police, the suspect is also a resident at the same care facility and denies the charges. During his appearance in court, he reserved the right to appeal the custody decision. The court imposed a reporting ban on the proceedings, meaning details from the hearing cannot be publicly disclosed. The suspect arrived at Esbjerg Court using a rollator and required assistance from officers to exit the police vehicle. Four police officers accompanied him during the hearing. Media outlet JydskeVestkysten reported that the charge involves repeated blows with a vacuum cleaner tube, which authorities say caused the elderly man’s death. The victim was bedridden at the time of the incident, according to earlier police statements. Police began interviews and technical examinations at the nursing home on Saturday evening around 7 p.m. The deceased man’s relatives have been notified of his passing. Authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The case remains under active review by law enforcement as they gather further evidence related to the alleged assault.
