Køge Municipality canceled a scheduled inspection at Corona Camping near Borup in Zealand. The inspection was planned for Tuesday morning to check if the campsite follows current regulations. This follows the municipality's earlier removal of the campsite's winter permit.
The cancellation occurred after Corona Camping announced the inspection on Facebook. They invited people to an open event on the same day.
Municipal officials stated this publicity made proper inspection impossible. They could not guarantee staff could perform their duties safely. Anders Mosbæk Nielsen from the municipality's technical and environmental department confirmed this in an email to the campsite.
The campsite was supposed to be cleared on Saturday. About 80 permanent residents refused to leave the property.
The municipality will now reconsider when to conduct the inspection. This situation highlights the tension between authorities and residents at the controversial campsite.
Camping inspections typically ensure compliance with safety and zoning rules. In Denmark, municipalities enforce these regulations to maintain public welfare. The cancellation shows how public disclosure can disrupt standard administrative procedures.
