Multiple police patrols responded to an incident in Bergen early Saturday morning involving a drunk and aggressive man who smashed store windows and threatened a snowplow driver with a knife. The Vest Police District logged the event at 3:57 a.m., reporting several callers described a man throwing stones at shop windows while shouting and screaming. According to operations leader Frode Kolltveit in the police log, the man broke into a store that sells radio-controlled models through a shattered window and threw merchandise outside. He then reportedly stood in the street yelling at passing vehicles. One snowplow driver was specifically threatened with being stabbed, though Kolltveit emphasized the suspect never actually displayed a knife. Three unarmed police patrols managed to subdue the individual. Officers later discovered another broken window at a nearby car and motorcycle shop. The suspect was placed in temporary custody and will be examined by a doctor before formal detention due to his apparent intoxication. The police response involved coordination across multiple units to ensure public safety during the disturbance. Authorities confirmed the man was under the influence of alcohol or other substances at the time of the incident. No injuries were reported among bystanders or responding officers. The damaged storefronts are located in central Bergen, and local business owners are assessing the extent of the property damage. The suspect remains in custody pending medical evaluation and legal proceedings.
