A Lapland district court has convicted a 62-year-old CEO for sexual crimes against a child. The man received an unconditional prison sentence for offenses spanning over a decade.
The court found the businessman guilty of gross sexual abuse of a child. He operated two different companies in Lapland during the period of his crimes.
Court documents reveal the abuse began when the girl was just seven years old. The sexual exploitation continued until she turned seventeen.
The CEO repeatedly performed sexual acts with the child over ten years. He also pressured her into sexual activities while she was in elementary school.
Evidence showed the man physically restrained and touched the child's private parts. This included inappropriate contact with her buttocks, breasts, and genitals.
In August 2020, the man forced the child into a sexual act. He also sent sexually explicit messages and images to the victim.
Some charges were dismissed due to timing. The explicit messaging occurred before new sexual crime laws took effect in 2023.
The court sentenced the CEO to three and a half years in prison. He must pay the victim 12,000 euros for suffering and 12,500 euros for pain and temporary harm.
Additional court costs total approximately 23,500 euros. These include payments to the state and compensation for the girl's legal expenses.
The October 23rd ruling remains subject to appeal. Finnish media typically withhold names of convicted sex offenders to protect victims.
