Two men sentenced for Iceland alcohol burglary
Two Icelandic men received prison sentences for stealing large quantities of alcohol during coordinated break-ins. Police recovered all stolen goods during home searches the next day. One offender had previous convictions for similar crimes.

Two men in their thirties received prison sentences for breaking into properties and stealing alcohol in East Iceland. The District Court of East Iceland convicted both men this week.
They forced open exterior doors at two locations during a midweek evening. Their targets contained substantial alcohol supplies.
At one location, they took 10 large beer cans, 20 small bottles of white wine, 20 small bottles of sparkling wine, and one 25-liter beer keg. From the second property, they stole five bottles of hard liquor, 25 beer cans, and six energy drink cans.
Police discovered the stolen goods during home searches the following day. Officers found all the alcohol at the men's residences.
One man received a 30-day suspended prison sentence with two years probation. His previous conviction in 2019 involved driving without a license and theft offenses.
The second man received a heavier sentence due to additional traffic and drug violations. He also had a longer criminal record.
Alcohol theft remains uncommon in Iceland, where alcohol sales are restricted to government-run stores. The substantial quantity stolen suggests the men targeted known alcohol storage areas. Breaking into multiple locations in one evening shows clear planning, yet they left obvious evidence for police.
