Keuruu's church council will decide on Tuesday whether to sell the Old Vicarage property to local company Keuruu Shangrila Oy. The firm's majority owner is Katja Ekroth from Kerava.

Church pastor Ville von Gross confirms only one purchase offer emerged for the historic property. If approved, the sale price would be 100,000 euros.

Ekroth originally offered 150,000 euros but later reduced her bid by 50,000 euros. The church board recommended accepting the offer after a October vote.

Board member Seppo Lampinen argued against forwarding the proposal, calling the price too low. His motion failed 3-6.

Keuruu Shangrila plans restaurant and wellness services including retreats. Ekroth's offer requires additional parking and expansion permits for a shore sauna.

The sale depends on successful financing and possible property inspection. The offer expires if funding isn't secured by year's end.

The Old Vicarage forms part of Keuruu's cultural environment with the Kamana Art Museum. Museum operations will relocate to Keuruu E-center around New Year.

Until last spring, Pappilan Pidot Oy operated restaurant services in the building. Entrepreneurs Henna Mäkelä and Nanna Rantanen ran the business since 2005.

They terminated their lease due to property uncertainty.

Built in 1812, the Old Vicarage represents Turun Empire architecture. The main building spans 660 square meters with additional log granary and stone cellar. The property includes 6,000 square meters of private waterfront land.

This situation highlights the challenges small Finnish municipalities face maintaining historic properties. The reduced offer suggests limited market interest despite the building's cultural significance.
