Cooking incidents prompted two emergency responses from the rescue services during the night between Saturday and Sunday in Jyväskylä. Neither situation resulted in an actual fire, but both required on-site intervention by local authorities. On Pappilanvuorentie, a smoke alarm activated after the resident had fallen asleep while cooking. The rescue team ventilated the apartment to clear smoke and confirmed no fire had started. Just over an hour later, a similar incident occurred on Kulottajantie. An elderly person was frying vendace when the smoke detector sounded due to burning food. While attempting to silence the alarm, the individual fell. Emergency medical personnel assessed their condition at the scene. Again, no fire broke out, and the rescue unit resolved the issue through ventilation. In both cases, the response involved checking the premises, ensuring safety, and airing out the affected spaces. The rescue services emphasized that no flames developed, but such situations can quickly escalate if left unattended. Falling asleep during cooking remains a common cause of kitchen-related alarms. Authorities reminded residents to stay alert while preparing food, especially late at night. Both individuals involved were reported to be in stable condition following the incidents. The rescue operations concluded, and no additional assistance was required beyond initial assessment and ventilation.
