A 54-year-old man has been remanded in custody for four weeks following a fatal stabbing in Herning. Police confirm a 34-year-old man died from knife wounds during the incident.

The violence occurred overnight on Gormsvej in Herning. Officers received the emergency call at 00:52 on Tuesday morning.

Police arrested the 54-year-old resident at the scene. They found two injured men when they arrived.

The 34-year-old victim died from his injuries. A 29-year-old man suffered serious wounds but is now out of danger.

Both the 54-year-old suspect and the 29-year-old victim faced court hearings on Tuesday. The older man faces charges of murder and attempted murder.

The younger man appeared in absentia because he remains hospitalized. He faces charges of aggravated assault and robbery against the 54-year-old just before the stabbing.

Police say several other people were present during the incident. Investigators are determining their exact roles in the case.

Investigations suggest the stabbing occurred within Herning's drug environment. All parties knew each other beforehand, according to police.

This marks the second fatal stabbing on Gormsvej this year. In April, a 21-year-old Somali woman was killed on the same street.

Police emphasize the two cases are unrelated. A 16-year-old boy was arrested in June for the earlier killing.

Authorities seek information from anyone who witnessed suspicious activity near Gormsvej late Monday. They particularly want dashcam footage from residents in the area.

The quick succession of violent incidents on one street raises concerns about public safety in the neighborhood. Local authorities face pressure to address underlying issues driving such violence.
