By Nordics Today •

Finland's OP Group has changed its name to OP Pohjola in a major rebranding move. The financial cooperative also announced significant improvements to its customer bonus program, including higher rewards and new investment options. These changes take effect immediately for the name change and at the start of next year for the bonus system updates.

OP Group Changes Name to OP Pohjola and Revamps Bonus System

Finland's OP Group officially changed its name to OP Pohjola today. The rebranding takes effect immediately across the organization. This marks the third name change for the financial cooperative since 2007.

The new name combines the established OP brand with Pohjola Insurance. Subsidiary companies within the group will retain their current names.

OP simultaneously announced a major overhaul of its customer bonus program. The changes will take effect at the start of next year.

Bonus amounts will increase and accumulate from a wider range of services. Customers gain flexibility to choose how they use their rewards. A new investment option allows members to direct bonuses into funds.

CEO Timo Ritakallio stated the changes benefit loyal customers. "Starting next year, owner-customers will benefit more from consolidating their banking, wealth management, and insurance services," he said in a press release. "OP bonuses will accumulate from our services more broadly, and we're increasing the amount of bonuses earned."

The company operated as OP-Pohjola Group from 2007 to 2014 before simplifying to OP Group. This latest change represents a partial return to the earlier branding while maintaining the OP identity.

Financial cooperatives frequently adjust branding to reflect evolving service offerings. This rebranding signals OP's continued integration of banking and insurance services under a unified identity.
