A man in his 20s held in custody over a fatal crash on Östermalm earlier this autumn may have a serious mental disorder, according to Expressen.
The man, who is from Södertälje, was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs when he allegedly drove into a woman on Östermalm, SVT reported. The woman died. He is suspected of causing another person's death, gross negligence in traffic, gross causing of bodily harm, and hit-and-run from a traffic accident.
According to Expressen, the man drove at up to 200 kilometres per hour and caused the crash. The reason for the accident is unclear. SVT has previously reported that the prosecutor brought in Säpo to investigate whether there may have been a motive.
Prosecutor Zilla Hirsch previously told SVT: "Right now I have no explanation."
The man has previously admitted that he drove the car but denied the crime. According to his defence lawyer, he was not aware of his actions at the time of the accident. Because no explanation for the drive could be obtained, the prosecutor wanted to see whether the man suffers from a serious mental disorder, and an investigation now indicates that this may be possible.
